Adult Team Spelling Bee 2025

On Tuesday, May 20th, 2025, Project Literacy hosted our 6th Annual Adult Team Spelling Bee Fundraiser at the Coast Capri Hotel. Proudly sponsored by Pushor Mitchell LLP with supporting sponsorship by Source Office Furniture, the Annual Adult Team Spelling Bee was a great success! With several teams tied for first place, the competition came down to the first ever word scramble, with the Agraphia-Ites winning the word scramble, and the prestigious Spelling Bee Cup!

Can you spell V-I-C-T-O-R-Y?!

All funds raised from this event will go towards supporting Project Literacy programs for children and adults within the Central Okanagan. The Team Spelling Bee will include coffee, tea, juice and a classic buffet breakfast. The words are tough but the competition is even tougher. Teams of eight adults will compete for the Spelling Bee Trophy. The reigning champion: Okanagan College’s ‘Word Wrights’ came into the Bee for the first time, last year, and left with the trophy held high!

Last year, we also introduced the Spirit Award for the most spirited and creative team — costumes, chants, anything you can think of that embodies team spirit. The 2024 winner was the Kelowna Sunrise Rotary Club’s team: ‘Here Comes the Sun! They were the loud and proud spellers of the day! Who will take home the prize, this year?
