Children’s Summer Reading Program

The application form link will be live on April 15th.

Project Literacy offers a Children’s Summer Reading Program to support students entering grades 2-4 in Fall 2025.

  • Parents are expected to contact their children’s teacher for their PM Benchmark reading level.
  • This program aims to support lower income and vulnerable families in our community.
  • Children with diverse learning abilities, English Language Learners (ELL), English as a Second Language (ESL) may not be suitable for the program.
  • Schools currently participating in our ONE TO ONE Children’s Reading Program will be contacted first, followed by other schools within SD23.
  • The program takes place at The Central Okanagan Family Hub, 700 Pearson Road, Kelowna, BC — right entrance of Pearson Elementary School — see image below.

The program follows the fun theme of “DIG INTO SUMMER” and gives students the opportunity to be engaged with literacy in a unique and supportive way. This Project Literacy initiative will be delivered through a Balanced Literacy approach and will include indoor and some outdoor literacy activities, refreshments, take-home books, and group/individual creative activities and literacy games.
