Kelowna, BC (October 24, 2016). Project Literacy Kelowna Society is excited to embark on a new partnership with the Launch Community Development Foundation that will see a new financial literacy program offered at the Project Literacy downtown Learning Centre.
The ‘Matched Savings Program’, offered by the Launch Community Development Foundation, is a 12-month program designed to help participants learn how to effectively manage their personal finances, while providing the opportunity to save money towards continuing education, starting a small business and more. “The valuable training program is offered free of charge to participants which fits in perfectly with Project Literacy’s model of service delivery,” says Project Literacy Kelowna Society Executive Director, Christine McWillis.
At this time the program continues to be managed and delivered by the Launch Community Development Foundation. “We are thrilled to partner with Project Literacy to deliver practical lessons on savings, budgeting and debt management that empower Kelowna residents to get on track with their financial and life goals,” says Co-Founder of Launch Kelowna, Michael Wendland. Discussion on future partnership possibilities include hopes that Project Literacy volunteer tutors, with an interest in this area, will be trained in the program and able to assist in the delivery of the program on a more individual basis. “This new partnership is an excellent example of how not-for-profit organizations working together can better utilize limited resources to serve our community.” McWillis concludes.
