Children’s Education and Promotion Coordinator
Tasks and Responsibilities
This position works with the Executive Director and Education Coordinator of Project Literacy Central Okanagan Society in two key areas: Children’s Education and Promotions
Major Responsibilities
- Under the guidance of the Education Coordinator, support the development and delivery of the Children’s Summer Reading Program
- Develop social media content for Instagram and Facebook, including videos, photos and data to help promote the program
- Generate, edit, publish, and share content (original text, images, video or HTML) that builds meaningful connections and encourages community members to get involved with Project Literacy
- Support Project Literacy booths at summer community events
- Assist with office and other duties as required
Supervision and Mentoring Plans
This position will work closely with the Education Coordinator. Mentorship and Supervision will be provided, regularly, by the Executive Director and Education Coordinator throughout the employment period. The student will receive regular feedback and direction about the projects they will be working on whilst being encouraged to generate new and fresh ideas.
Education and Experience
- Minimum of two years post-secondary education in the areas of child education, childhood development, fine arts, marketing, or social work, or related experience
- Knowledgeable in Graphic Design, including Photoshop, and In-design
- Very knowledgeable with social media platforms, including Facebook and Instagram
- Creating innovative content for Instagram and Facebook posts
- Experience with WordPress and basic web development
- Experience working with children (ages 6-10)
- Detail-focused
- Ability to take direction
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Excellent written and spoken English
- Second language an asset
- Ability to interact comfortably with children and the general public

Hourly wage: $18.00 hour
